KUALA LUMPUR:
Klang MP Charles Santiago wants the Immigration Department to unveil their findings regarding their investigations regarding a Refugee for Sale programme showed on NTV7 last May.
The programme, shown on May 3 this year, alleged that Immigration department officers sold Myanmar refugees at RM300 per person over the Thai-Malaysia border.
In a written reply to the MP, the Home minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said a committee set up by the department found that none of its officers were involved in the trans-border sale of refugees.
"The department will continue with its investigations and stern action will be taken against those found guilty," Syed Hamid further stated.
Despite the assurances, Charles was still unhappy and want the department to reveal its findings.
"I am going to make a formal request on this," he said at the parliament lobby today.
